Parkinsonia florida (blue paloverde)

Iconic Sonoran Desert tree with striking green bark and airy, open canopy. Produces brilliant yellow flowers in spring, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies. Blooms earlier than its relative Parkinsonia microphylla. Drought-deciduous, dropping leaves during dry periods but photosynthesizing through its bark. Naturally found in washes and desert flats; thrives in full sun and well-drained soils. Provides light shade and habitat for native wildlife.
