Welcome to Sonoran Starts Nursery

🌵 Rooted in the Sonoran Desert 🌱

At Sonoran Starts, I grow regionally native plants from the Sonoran Desert and nearby deserts and tropics. These are plants that belong here. They evolved with the wildlife, soils, and climate of this region and form the living foundation of our desert ecosystems.

This nursery began in spring 2025 with a small collection of seeds and a simple goal to learn more about the plants of this region by growing them myself. The first seedlings, including desert willow, chuparosa, and ironwood, are now finding new homes this fall in local yards and nearby open spaces.

Since then, the work has grown as well. I have begun making small sales and collaborating with others who share an interest in native plants. Rather than producing one large seasonal inventory, I now grow in smaller batches that become available throughout the year as they reach transplant size.

My goal is to keep growing with purpose. I am especially interested in supplying plants for restoration projects, ecological landscaping, and for those who appreciate the native beauty of the Sonoran region.

My Approach

Regionally native
I focus on species native to the Sonoran Desert and the surrounding deserts and tropics. These plants evolved here with local pollinators, birds, and other wildlife.

Locally sourced
Seeds are collected from regional populations when possible to preserve local genetics and ensure strong adaptation.

Ecologically grounded
Every plant grown supports biodiversity, pollinator networks, and the balance of the desert environment.

Small and intentional
I grow in careful batches that are often started for a specific project, property, or restoration goal.

Whether you are replanting a section of desert habitat, adding native structure to a yard, or simply curious about the plants that define this landscape, I would love to grow with you.

Plants will continue to become available in waves throughout the year as new batches are started and mature.
